Follow the instructions that allow you to insert a link into an Outlook or Windows email. Read all this tip to know more.
Since every page on the web has an address, you can send something to it by logging in to its address. Outlook creates an automatically clickable hyperlink in case you type a full web address in an email message in Outlook or Windows Mail and press the Enter key.
The instructions in this article apply to Outlook 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010, Outlook for office 365, Outlook Online, and the Windows Mail app.
How to insert a link in Outlook or Windows email
Each page of the web can be linked to any word or image in your message. The page opens automatically when the recipient clicks on the link. Do this:
Open the e-mail message in which you want to insert a link;
Select the text or image you want to use for the link;
Go to the Insert tab. In Outlook Online, go to the Formatting toolbar and select Insert Hyperlink;
Select the link. Skip this step for Outlook Online;
In the Text to display text box, type a word or a sentence if you want an alternative text to appear;
In the Address text box, enter or paste the URL to which you want to link. Select Email address and fill in the fields in case you want to insert a link to an email address. In Outlook Online and Windows Mail, in the Address text box, enter mailto: followed by the email address;
Select OK to insert a link.
The URL linked to the link text in your email will open in a browser when the recipient of the email clicks on it.
