Learn how you can send a single email to many or all of the members in your address book. Read more in this tip.
A mailing list is a subset of the Mozilla Thunderbird address book. It's best to hide the names and email addresses of people on the mailing list from all other recipients when you send an email to everyone on a mailing list by sending the email to yourself and adding the members of the mailing list as recipients of the BCC.
In this case, your addresses and those of the recipient will only be visible. It is then easy to send a message to all its members while protecting their confidentiality by configuring a mailing list in the address book of Mozilla Thunderbird.
Send a message to a mailing list in Mozilla Thunderbird
You can compose an email to all members of an address book group in Mozilla Thunderbird by following these steps:
§ In the Thunderbird toolbar, click Write to open a new email;
§ Enter your own email address in the To: field;
§ Click on the second address line until To: appears next to it;
§ Click on the button in the address book toolbar to open your contact lists. Once your version of Thunderbird does not display the Address Book button, right-click on the toolbar and choose Personalize. Then drag the address book button to the toolbar. The address book still opens using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + B.
§ Now click in the empty field To: address;
§ Choose Bcc: in the menu that appears;
§ Select the address book containing the distribution list in the side bar of the address book;
§ Drag the list of your choice in the sidebar and drop it in the Bcc: field;
§ Compose your message and attach any file or image;
§ Click the Send button to send the email to everyone on the mailing list.
