Add your email account details to your phone settings to get Gmail on your iPhone. By doing this, you will see your previous Gmail messages downloaded to your phone and stored in the built-in Mail app also allowing you to send messages from your Gmail account. IMAP and POP are two methods of downloading email to your iPhone. Synchronization features only apply to IMAP.

How to access Gmail in iPhone Mail with IMAP

It is possible that with the Gmail IMAP server settings you have Gmail on your phone. The following steps are to be followed:

 Activate IMAP for Gmail;

 On the iPhone home screen, open Settings;

 Go to Passwords and accounts> Add account, then choose Google;

N.B: on older versions of the Mail application, choose Mail> Contacts> Calendars, then select Add account> Google Mail;

 Enter your Gmail email address, then tap Next;

 Enter your Gmail password, then tap Next.

N.B: if it happens that you do not know your password, reset your Gmail password to create a new one;

 If a two-step verification message appears, follow the on-screen instructions. You’ll only see it if two-step authentication is enabled for your Gmail;

 Turn on the mail failover switch to make sure your email can be used. Other items can be enabled to synchronize contacts, calendar events and notes;

 Click the home button to exit the home screen.

N.B: if you configure your Gmail account to work with other e-mail addresses, use them to send from iPhone Mail.

How to access Gmail in iPhone Mail via POP

To use Gmail on your phone via POP, you will need the Gmail POP server settings. Follow these steps:

 Activate the POP protocol for Gmail if it is not already activated. Do it from a web browser, using the Transfer and POP / IMAP tab of your Gmail account;

 Open the Settings application and select Passwords and accounts> Add account> Others> Add an email account;

 Enter your name, your electronic opponent and your password, then press Next;

 Select POP;

 In the Incoming mail server section, enter the settings for the POP Gmail server:

• Host name: pop.gmail.com

• Username: your full email address.

• Password: the password of your email account.

N.B: if two-step verification is enabled, generate a password for your Gmail account and use it in place of your account password;

 In the Outgoing mail server section, enter the Gmail SMTP server settings:

• Host name: smtp.gmail.com.

• Username: your full email address.

• Password: the password of your email account;

 Press Save;

 Select the Gmail account you just added;

 Press smtp.gmail.com towards the bottom of the page, then again at the top of the next page;

 Enable the Use SSL toggle switch;

 In the Server port text box, delete the existing number and enter 465;

 Select Done.

 N.B: you may be able to delete an email on your iPhone and keep it in your Gmail account according to the POP download settings of your Gmail account. Adjust this functionality by changing the setting when messages are used with POP on this page of your Gmail account.
